Payroll Coordinator
We are seeking a detailed-oriented professional to oversee our payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. If you have strong background in payroll administration, attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills – we want to hear from you.
Contract: 6-month FTC
Working hours: 35 hours per week is full time. Where possible, we are open to considering part time/flexible working patterns. Please let us know in your application your desired working pattern.
Salary: From £33,000
Reporting to: Payroll Manager
London docklands
Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working at least four days across a fortnight in the office.
As Payroll Coordinator, we’ll be looking to you to make sure that the day-to-day activities of the payroll function are done in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Working alongside the other Payroll Coordinators, you’ll be using your technical skills and knowledge to make sure we get our employee’s pay right first time.
Your can do attitude, problem solving skills and knowledge of our policies and processes will mean you’ll be able to deliver excellent customer service whilst ensuring we are going the right thing. You’ll build strong collaborative relationships with your colleagues in HR and other areas of the service, providing stakeholders with expert payroll advice in a friendly and professional manner.
Key responsibilities
  • Making sure the payroll system is up to date with our current and past employees
  • Inputting accurate data into each month’s pay run in time for the monthly payroll submissions
  • Helping the payroll manager with monthly and annual reporting and payments to third-party suppliers
  • Helping to answer payroll queries – you’ll need to make sure your knowledge of tax, national insurance and statutory payments are always up to date
  • Delivering excellent levels of service to internal and external stakeholders by making sure enquiries are addressed in an efficient and friendly way
  • Building collaborative working relationships with other support teams across the ombudsman
  • Making contributions towards project work and offering suggestions for improvements in the way the payroll team works and interacts with processes from other support areas
To be considered for this role, you’ll need to show us that you’ve got the skills and capabilities. You’ll have to meet the following minimum criteria:
Minimum Criteria
  • Relevant experience within a fast-paced payroll team of a large organisation
  • Having working knowledge and experience of pay as you earn, pensions and other relevant statutory requirements
  • Knowledge of salary sacrifice and flexible benefits
Desirable Criteria
We would also like you to have the following skills:
  • Ability to adapt to changes in payroll procedures.
  • Experience using Workday
  • Using a range of payroll packages
  • Having a good level of experience working with Microsoft products like Outlook, Word and Excel
