£24,778.67 - £26,080
(Fixed Term)
£27,876 - £29,340
An exciting opportunity has arisen for recruitment within the Pensions Team. We are looking for two proactive and conscientious individuals to join our small team; one permanent post (32 hours per week) and one fixed-term post up to 12 months (full time).
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
We administer for the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), delivering services to our members. This role entails working directly with customers via various channels, system developments and project work. You will be joining a busy team, progressing with significant technological developments in the coming year.
This is an excellent opportunity to take on a new challenge. We need someone who is keen to learn, works independently to meet strict deadlines, and uses problem-solving skills. You need an eye for detail, and to be able to apply your learning to various scenarios. Below are testimonials from those currently working in this role:
“The role of a Pensions Assistant is a job of two halves; with a focus on accuracy, calculations and problem-solving as well as providing customer service for the members behind the numbers. Pensions is a vast subject with a lot to learn which can be varied, complex and sensitive in nature. This makes the role equally challenging and rewarding.”
“When starting in the Pensions Team I really enjoyed the challenge of learning something new. The comprehensive training provided via the induction plan was very effective and supported me whilst I was learning the role. My favourite part of the role is how varied and diverse the tasks are, meaning each day brings fresh challenges and opportunities for growth.”
Our team currently operate with a hybrid working arrangement, with the expectation to work in our Dumfries office two days a week and the rest of the time from home.
Applicants invited to interview will be asked to complete a short activity ahead of interview date, as well as an exercise on the day. Interviews will be held in person. The successful candidate will require a Baseline Personnel Security Standards check, and this includes candidate vetting through Disclosure Scotland.
We would encourage those interested to contact the team to discuss the role in more detail. Please contact Gemma McWhinnie, Gemma.McWhinnie@dumgal.gov.uk / 01387 273855
