The role

The role will work across the Medivet business to identify, design and implement an engaging and progressive career development offering for our clinical teams that will enable the business to keep and find even more exceptional people.

The role offers a real opportunity to help shape and guide how we deliver learning and development within this exciting and growing organisation and most importantly enable improvements in business outcomes and performance.

Role accountabilities

  • Lead on the design and development of Medivet’s clinical and professional development offering for vets and nurses, ensuring this is fully integrated with our CPD approach and becomes the basis for effectively identifying and implementing the appropriate priorities for our clinical teams.
  • Work in partnership with the Clinical Directors and Divisional Veterinary Directors to effectively diagnose current clinical skill/knowledge gaps and implement solutions that are fit for purpose and enable improved performance of our people and support the delivery of exceptional care.
  • Design and develop engaging, relevant, and impactful clinical learning solutions utilising instructional design principles and working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other relevant partners across the business.
  • Work in partnership with the Divisional People Managers to ensure awareness and understanding of the clinical and professional development offering and how this can support divisional people plans.
  • Work closely with the Digital Learning Manager to think creatively and innovatively about how to digitally enable our clinical learning offerings where appropriate i.e., virtual classroom, e-learning, video, job aids, reference guides.
  • Project manage multiple stakeholders and pieces of work, tracking progress across all key areas of focus and ensuring the on-time delivery of agreed outcomes.
  • Ensure all clinical and professional learning solutions and interventions are linked to a measurement strategy so that the return on investment and value to the business can be easily articulated and reported on.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions/workshops in an engaging, clear, and concise way online and in-person and in close collaboration with internal and external SME’s.
  • Collaborate closely with key business partners (functional/divisional heads, People Managers etc) to ensure that stakeholder relationships are developed and maintained on an ongoing basis and enable L&D to provide a partnership that adds real value.
  • Use available data and MI to gain valuable insight and understanding into potential capability gaps and learning needs.
  • Ensure the effective marketing and communicating of clinical as well as broader L&D offerings to the business to drive engagement and participation, including being a visible and pro-active advocate and role-model for the team.
  • Liaise and manage external partners, where required, to support and enable delivery of the clinical and professional development offering for Medivet.
  • Maintain an up-to-date awareness of L&D trends, developments, and best practice ensuring these are reflected in any interventions that we deliver.

Your skills and experience

  • Clinical veterinary background and expertise.
  • A real passion for L&D with a strong understanding of the impact it can have on behavioural and cultural change.
  • Experience of working in an L&D partnering role in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Proven experience of identifying training needs, developing and implementing learning interventions, and evaluating learning outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, influence and work collaboratively with people at all levels, including senior management.
  • Excellent understanding of instructional design, learning methodologies and different learning modalities i.e., instructor-led versus digitally enabled etc.
  • A good commercial mindset with proven experience of delivering learning solutions that drive business performance.
  • Evidence of strong business acumen including making evidence-based business decisions.
  • Strong facilitation and delivery skills.
  • Experience in managing external contracts and suppliers with a broad understanding of different L&D suppliers relevant to staff development
  • Excellent IT skills in general including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan time effectively and manage multiple work streams.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
