Personal Advisor

Are you a committed and self-motivated person who has a keen interest in supporting young people to ensure they receive the care and support they need?
Come and join our Leaving Care Service as a Personal Advisor where you can really make a difference to young people’s lives. As a Personal Adviser (PA), you will work with care experienced young people to make sure they receive the care, support and entitlements they need when they leave. You will work as part of a team providing support to young people in care and those that are care experienced to support them with a positive transition into adulthood and independence. Within this role, you will join the team in contributing positively to the local community and will ensure that young people are living in suitable accommodation and have opportunities to engage in education, employment and training.
You will be given a case load of eligible, relevant and former relevant and qualifying young people where you’ll provide them with 1:1 support and will undertake the role of Personal Advisor as described in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. Part of this role will also include reviewing and updating Pathways Plan on a six-monthly basis.
To be successful, you will have experience of working with young people in a professional capacity and an understanding of the challenges facing care experienced young people as they make the transition to independence. You will also have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Due to the nature of the role, there will be the occasional need to work outside of your standard working day and you must have the ability to undertake visits out of county which is essential.
