Personal Care Assistant

Do you want to help a primary aged child to develop their own independence and lead a happy life?

Academics are working closely with local primary schools in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire who are looking to recruit a Personal Care Assistant to support primary aged children on a 1:1 basis with all aspects of Personal Care and hygiene.

This role entails supporting a child with all aspects of their care needs throughout the school day which will include:

• Assistant and encouraging completion on tasks set by the class teacher
• Ensuring personal hygiene is upheld throughout the day
• Toileting and continence training
• Assisting a child with eating and drinking
• Cooperating with key workers
• Communicating with the teaching and leadership team

This type of role entails a certain mentalilty and range of skills including:

• Perserverance
• Patience
• Previous experience supporting a child with personal hygiene (preferably six months or more)
• Experience working with children of primary age (preferably six months or more)
• An understanding and knowledge of special educational needs
• Have a willingness to undertake relevant training in relation to the role
• Have safeguarding knowledge
