Mosaic 1898 Direct Payments Support Service are supporting a young gentleman to recruit Personal Assistants in the LE4 area of Leicester City. You will be required to supervise and support the client in his day to day and social activities in a family home. Experience is essential in tracheostomy care, suctioning, administration of nebulisers and cough assist machine. Nursing experience would be an advantage but not essential.
Driver with own car available and the ability to cover stays at another family residence potentially every other weekend and some half terms preferred.
Working Times: Full and part time hours available. Working hours are variable: Days, weekends and waking nights (12 hours). Flexibility is key to be able to cover sickness and annual leave on other shifts.
Rates of Pay: £15.00 per day hour / £15.00 per waking night hour
Duties (As required, instructed or directed by employer)
To assist in all areas of daily life as required, and to act as an escort and aid to the employer’s social and day to day activities. Tasks include:
· Assist with Tracheostomy care; including suctioning and administration of nebulisers
· Assist with peg feed and cough assist machine
· Assistance with shopping and associated tasks.
· Escort to social meetings/events.
· General household/domestic duties:
- Dusting
- vacuuming / mop
- empty bins
- make and change bed
- cleaning of rooms
- laundry / drying / ironing clothes
- washing up.
Non-smoker preferred.
Please note that the gentleman is a dog owner.

· Communication skills: You must be able to communicate effectively.
· Empathy and Compassion: Due to the individuals limited communication skills, understanding and empathising is an important skill and is vital to this PA role.
· Patience: it is vital that you utilise patience and take time to understand the individuals body language and varying cues for support.
· Flexibility: health needs can change, and routines may need to alter, therefore, you will need to be flexible regarding shift patterns.
· Organisation and Time keeping: Time management is essential as routine is very important, especially regarding medication and feeding. The PA would be expected to arrive to shift on time and if there is a delay, the parents are to be notified as soon as possible.
