Placement Student

Countryside & Community Research Institute

Francis Close Hall Campus, Cheltenham

2x full time 1.0FTE, 37 hours per week positions available

Fixed term until 31st August 2025


About the school or department

The CCRI is one of the largest specialist rural research centres in the UK and currently employs over 30 people who work on a diverse range of social science research and consultancy projects relating to rural environment and agricultural policy; rural community and services; rural economic development; food; recreation; and access issues.


About the role

The CCRI Placement Student offers the opportunity for an undergraduate student to work in and contribute to a fast paced, dynamic and “internationally excellent research institute with world-leading researchers.


The successful candidate will be expected to engage with a diverse range of projects and make a real contribution to the outputs of the institute. There will be opportunities for their name to be credited as an author in reports and/or academic papers and receive acknowledgement for their contributions. They will offer valuable support and be able to bring their own ideas to project teams wherever possible and also be solely responsible for a range of important tasks.


The CCRI placement will have access to their own laptop and dual monitor setup allowing them to transition between tasks seamlessly. They will also have access to applications such as Canva/Adobe/ArcGIS/QGIS etc. These can be refined further in the dedicated personal development time.
