Planning Director job for a planning consultancy based in Winchester, Hampshire. Overseeing all planning services, business development and project management for the planning team. The role offers a competitive basic + bonuses + Hybrid Working + 4% pension.

You will be joining an employee-owned planning consultancy delivering planning services to clients across the South and further afield across the UK. You will be working on behalf of developers and investors across residential and commercial sectors. To be considered you must be chartered MRTPI and have previous experience in leading a planning team at Associate Director or Director level and ideally from consultancy background.

Role & Responsibilities

• Management and overseeing fee proposals for the planning team
• Development appraisals
• Preparation of planning statements design and access statements and other necessary documentation for planning applications
• Overseeing the preparation and progress of planning applications
• Implement stakeholder and public consultation strategies
• Liaise with clients, planning officers during the planning process
• Formulating planning strategies to promote medium and long-term development sites through the plan-making process
• Monitor planning timescales on publication of all development plan documents
• Prepare appeal statements and attend hearings and public enquiries
• Comply with RTPI CPD requirements and champion new information/knowledge for the immediate and wider teams
• Project management for several projects at one time in line with agreed budget and deadlines
• Play an integral part in successful business development for the planning team and wider business through networking, coordinating with the marketing team, prompt response to enquiries and accurate fee proposals
• Contribute to the business’ strategic growth plan
• Mentor, train and manage the planning team.

Required Skills & Experience

• Degree in Town Planning (ideally Masters)
• MRTPI is essential
• 8 years + post-graduation experience in planning
• Consultancy experience is preferred
• Ability to lead a planning team
• Excellent negotiator
• Confident in presenting to clients and other internal and external stakeholders
• Driving Licence and own car is essential.
