Location: Wakefield (WF1)
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (37hrs per week)
Duration: Ongoing Contract - temp to perm if everything goes well
Duties
- To assist the Workshop Manager in ensuring the economical and efficient repair and maintenance of a diverse range of Council owned and other; vehicle, plant, and equipment fleets. Including privately owned vehicles.
- To effectively and efficiently supervise a diverse specialist craft workforce displaying a high degree of technical knowledge, guidance and effective communication between the skilled workforce and vehicle / plant and machinery users.
- To ensure compliance with statutory requirements with regard to the safety and roadworthiness standards for vehicles, Plant & machinery maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose and rectify defects on small & large vehicles, plant and horticultural machinery having regard to required quality and legal standards.
- The ability to follow, diagnose and safely repair 12 and 24 volt electrical machinery and automotive systems.
- Ability to maintain to the highest standard; Small / Large Goods and Passenger Vehicles, Motorbikes, specialised horticultural machinery and plant / equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post apprentice experience in Large Goods Vehicle, Light Goods or Horticultural Machinery
- City and Guilds level 1 and 2 or NVQ level 3 in a motor vehicle engineering or equivalent trade.
- Full driving licence
