As a Platform Design Engineer you will work within a small team of Infrastructure specialists to provide design & build support across our infrastructure technology landscape, including end to end execution of the delivery design lifecycle.
You will be required to work alongside our demand mgmt. team, architecture group, application and operational teams to create low level designs covering a wide variety of our infrastructure, including some complex implementations, covering both Data Centre and Private Cloud.
The difference you'll make:
Design and delivery of infrastructure solutions to enable product delivery and transformation
Work with key stakeholders to translate high level Architecture into detailed solution designs that meet the bank's patterns, standards and overall strategy
Provide technical development and oversight for the implementation of infrastructure solutions, specialising in the design, and development of systems and infrastructures based on preferences and industry standards
Contribute towards design improvements that allow for more efficient support of the environment, applications, and customers
Participate in technical planning sessions, to help determine most appropriate technical placement and solution to achieve customer demands
Participate in and contribute towards the evolution of an efficient Infrastructure demand management process to ensure accurate discovery of requirements, through to implementation of Design & Build and ultimately ensure solutions are sized, costed and fit for operational support
What you'll bring:
Proven experience of creating Low Level Design solutions within a Private Cloud & Data Centre environment, encompassing compute, virtualisation, containerisation, middleware, database, storage & Active Directory, with SME knowledge across at least 3 of the disciplines
Excellent written and communication skills. Able to work alongside key stakeholders to reach optimum solutions, that are both cost effective and secure
Ability to design solutions that are highly resilient in a cost effective and secure manner
Ability to operate in a fast moving environment, working on several projects simultaneously
Strong and demonstrable experience managing large-scale technology deployments
Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols
It would also be nice for you to have:
Experience of designing solutions for large-scale technology deployments in a highly regulated environment
Good knowledge of both converged and hyperconverged infrastructure
Effective communication and diplomacy skills to help guide and influence others
Experience in participating and contributing to teams in a cross-functional environment

This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week.
