The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the supportive and impactful public law policy team at the Law Society. The team works to support and represent solicitors, uphold the rule of law and promote access to justice. You would drive policy development, influence stakeholders, and develop resources and services for members. Your topics would include mental health law and housing law and may develop over time. You would work collaboratively to identify and respond to opportunities for member engagement and policy impact. You would also represent the Law Society and build strong strategic partnerships. This is an exciting and varied role where your expertise and knowledge will be used to great effect to make a real impact for our members.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a skilled Policy Adviser who can spot and respond persuasively to opportunities for impact. You would be able to grasp quickly the political and legal context in which our work takes place, and to work with members and colleagues to influence policy development and represent the Law Society. You would have a flexible and adaptable approach, with some expertise in at least one of the following areas: mental health law, disability law, mental capacity law or housing law. Strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills would be at the core of your offer.
Like us, you would be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We particularly encourage people from under-represented groups to apply.
What's in it for you
This is an excellent opportunity to work with contemporary thinkers in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and a culture of trust, clarity and respect.
We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.
Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.
