There’s never been a more exciting time to join Doncaster Council.
We are passionate about Doncaster - it’s a great place to live, do business and visit.
We have plenty to shout about – Doncaster is the UK’s best connected location, we have many major developments in the pipeline, a vibrant urban centre with a thriving arts and cultural scene, sport and leisure attractions, wonderful green spaces and a fascinating heritage. We firmly believe, as do our partners, that Doncaster is the place to be with a bright future and ambitions ahead of it. But don’t just take our word for it – anyone joining the council, can look forward to expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to the communities we serve.
Working in Policy, Insight and Change, you will become part of a fast-paced environment, central in helping Doncaster to become one of the most successful places in England and delivering on our ambitions set out in Doncaster Delivering Together. It is the engine room for policy, data, research and delivery, supporting the leadership of the Council and Partnerships at a local, regional and national level.
We are looking to recruit two Policy and Insight Manager roles, both at the same grade, salary and contract length but each role has a different focus. For both roles, the team is looking for a confident and dedicated person who is passionate about making a difference to people’s lives. Both posts require effective communication and stakeholder management, research and analytical skills and the ability to understand and apply policy within a whole systems approach.
Policy and Insight Manager (Environment & Climate) x 1
This post sits in the policy function of the Policy, Insight and Change Team, with a primary focus on, but not limited to, environmental initiatives including supporting the formulation of plans and implementing new processes in support of the Environment and Sustainability Strategy.
You will be instrumental in the formulation and execution of strategies and policy, conducting comprehensive research, contributing to funding bids and undertaking broader tasks aligned with our ‘Greener, Cleaner’ goal. Key responsibilities will include supporting service areas in the development and implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation plans. The role also involves fostering partnerships to facilitate large-scale nature recovery and promoting innovative approaches such as the circular economy.
This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute positively to the policy landscape at a time when increasing activity and investment at both a regional and national level is anticipated. If successful you will play a pivotal role in making a tangible difference to how we approach environmental challenges in Doncaster.
Policy and Insight Manager (Strategic Investment and External Funding) x 1
This post sits within the Strategic Investment and External Funding team within Policy, Insight and Change. You will become part of a team which is central in helping develop and deliver our Doncaster Delivering Together Investment Plan. This will include work towards developing capital and revenue investment pipelines and governance, which will require skills in business case development. You will also work across the authority and with partners to develop the spatial investment requirements for key employment sites i.e. Investment Zone designated areas. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to be part of the development of other investment related work, such as, Doncaster’s City Plan, Levelling Up Partnerships, Long-Term Plan for Towns, and Regenerative Neighbourhood Plans.
The role will work across the whole organisation and provide an effective and high-quality project management approach to development and delivery of products and supporting services to deliver associated activity within agreed budgets and timelines, ensuring progress is effectively reported.
