Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity to work within the GMC as a Policy Manager, contributing to major public policy issues and influencing the future of medical regulation.
You will need to be comfortable working with senior people and in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others. The work is interesting, varied and fast-paced.
Experience in policy development is essential and knowledge of current healthcare policy issues would be advantageous. But more importantly, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on good, safe patient care across the UK.
This is a hybrid role between home working and office working, you’ll work 1 day minimum a week in the office. We may ask you to attend the office on additional days where necessary.
Vacancies
x1 Policy Manager – Regulation Policy, London or Manchester (Permanent)
- Lead engagement with public inquiries and reviews into patient safety issues, working with internal and external stakeholders to develop creative and proportionate policy solutions in response to recommendations.
- Lead cross-directorate policy projects and help shape significant developments and reform of the health and regulatory sector
- Challenge, anticipate and build corporate understanding of emerging policy issues in the external environment through horizon scanning, driving activity across the organisation.
X2 Policy Managers – Fitness to Practise Policy, London or Manchester (1 x Permanent and 1 x 12 month Fixed term)
- Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to help deliver our ambitious programme of work to make sure investigations of and hearings about fitness to practise concerns remain effective, proportionate and lawful.
- Significant policy development to support the implementation of our regulatory reform programme, as well as the delivery of high profile cross-directorate policy initiatives.
X1 Policy Manager – Registration and Revalidation, London or Manchester (Permanent)
- Work closely with others to develop creative and proportionate policy solutions to support the current registration and revalidation frameworks
- Significant policy development in our wide ranging programme of reform to support the continuing expansion of the medical workforce
