Policy Support Inside IR35

Contract Term: 31st of August with possible extension

Contracting Authority: MoD DARR

Location: Hybrid –3-4 days a week Whitehall

As a Policy Support, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead on policy input to the development of resettlement policy, (within existing consensus and pushing forward to new initiatives as required) in support of the resettlement of ARAP Afghans;
  • Work to deliver the leasing of SFA for occupation by ARAP Aghans, including through liaison and negotiations with Local Authorities.
  • Support the Assistant Head and Deputy Director with advice to Ministers and senior officials, including drafting of submissions and briefings; (in writing and in person);
  • Support the Parliamentary Secretariat function in preparing written briefing and responses to Parliamentary business on resettlement policy, notably on accommodation issues;
  • Build strong relationships with our key MOD and Whitehall stakeholders; understanding the complexity of the policy space and coherence required, and to advise accordingly;
  • Work with others in DARR towards significant collective improvement of our knowledge of existing cohorts in the UK, drawing together existing data and developing means to improve the picture, to better develop and target resettlement support.

Essential:

  • Active SC Clearance is an essential requirement to be considered for this role
  • Policy experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build good working relationships.
  • Previous experience in drafting formal correspondence e.g., Ministerial correspondence or other responses as part of a secretariat.
  • Previous experience of policy or secretariat work within HMG
