The role
We are looking for a Part-Time Positive Behaviour Support Worker to join the All Age Disabilities Positive Behaviour Support Team three days a week for a fixed term.
The All Age Disabilities, Positive Behaviour Support Team delivers specialist outreach support within the family home or support settings, with the aim of increasing independence and quality of life for young people and helping families or carers develop skills and understanding in supporting people with needs related to learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviour.
This support aims to help parents and family carers develop confidence and understanding in implementing behaviour and communication strategies at home. We will do this by offering functional behavioural assessment, consultation, and direct work within the home or locality family hubs and making recommendations for behavioural/communication interventions.
The team also deliver training to families and professionals.
About you:
We are looking for candidates with experience working with children, young people and/or adults with a learning disability and/or autism who display challenging behaviours. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for this post as you will be required to work with various professionals and families/carers.
Knowledge of disabilities and their impact and knowledge of and experience in using Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behaviour Analysis interventions is important.
We are keen to hear from people who are enthusiastic about working with people with disabilities and have the required experience and skills.
Additional details
Part-time, 21 hours over 3 days per week (the exact working pattern will be agreed upon with the service).
The role is fixed-term for 12 months. If considering this as a secondment opportunity, any internal staff would need to gain agreement from their substantive line manager.
Please note that a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required at an enhanced level.
As a frontline role and service, candidates will be expected to work in the borough. This includes attending the office and visiting families and placements.
