Salary A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available immediately in the department of Chemistry, as part of the research groups of Professor Andrew Cooper FRS and Professor Anna Slater.
We are looking to recruit a PDRA to join a collaborative project funded by the UK Atomic Energy Authority in partnership with Atkins and the National Physical Laboratory. The project will develop and test organic material solutions to separate hydrogen isotopes using kinetic quantum sieving. Two posdocs are already in post, and we have been awarded funding to extend the project to include computational modelling.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with a background in the computational modelling of porous organic materials. You will work closely with experimentalists to identify opportunities where computational methods can direct synthetic strategies, identify new candidate materials, and rationalise observations, ultimately contributing to improved material performance.
A PhD in Chemistry, Materials, or Computer Science, and excellent research skills in materials research are essential, as well as the ability to take responsibility for research planning and organisation. The candidate must have expertise in computational chemistry, with a particular emphasis on organic or hybrid porous materials.
The position is available immediately and is fixed term until 31 March 2025.
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
