About the Role
We seek a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team dedicated to exploring immersive learning within the Metaverse. The successful candidate will be crucial in 3D modelling, augmented reality, and virtual reality projects. They will contribute to the advancement of analyzing real-world case studies of educational institutions that integrate Metaverse-based learning. The use of the EON-XR platform and other virtual technologies will be a key aspect of this research.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on 3D modelling for immersive and interactive 3D experiences in web-based VR/AR applications. They will also collaborate with the Metaverse team to create assets for innovative learning environments and contribute expertise in Blender or any high-performance 3D modelling tools suitable for Metaverse applications. Familiarity with standalone VR headsets (e.g., Vive, Quest 2/3, Pico 4) is highly preferred as well as familiarity with object recognition and tracking and feature detection are techniques used in computer vision to identify and track objects, determine their positions, and extract relevant visual features for metaverse applications.
The post holder will create innovative research in the Augmented and Virtual world as well as develop and implement novel algorithms and models in the Metaverse. The successful candidate will implement work into the EON-XR platform and have solid experience with software design, implementation, testing, and reporting. The post holder will have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on research projects.
Required Experience
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two years of hands-on experience implementing machine learning algorithms for augmented or mixed reality applications.
- Strong background in technology-integrated education and project design.
- Proven track record of research excellence, as demonstrated by publications.
Skills and Expertise
The successful candidate will have skills and experience surrounding creating real-world case studies of educational institutions integrating Metaverse-based learning using the EON-XR platform. They will also be experienced in designing Machine Learning algorithms in the Metaverse world and possess augmented reality development capability suitable for the fast turnaround in the social landscape using any advanced technologies. The successful candidate will also have:
- Experience working with C#, C++, and Unity.
- Familiarity with graphics-based techs such as Blender, OpenGL, 3D Maths, and other 3D technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in exploring how other technologies, such as deep learning algorithms, can enhance the development of AR and Metaverse experiences.
