Our client, a prestigious research institution in Brunswick, Manchester, is seeking a dynamic Postgraduate Research Finance Officer to join their team! As the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Postgraduate Research Finance Officer and ensuring the smooth financial operations of Postgraduate Research awards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the operations of Postgraduate Research awards within an assigned portfolio
- Act as a secondary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to Principal Investigators and Postgraduate Research Supervisors
- Attend regular review meetings and ensure compliance with funding terms and conditions
- Analyse financial data and provide forecasting and budgetary advice
- Proactively manage workloads and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to change initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection requirements
- Promote equality, diversity, and the University's policies and procedures
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Studying towards a recognised CCAB professional accountancy qualification or equivalent
- Previous experience in a finance environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong IT skills, including intermediate Excel skills and analytical abilities
- High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Ability to grasp complex details and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative, innovation, and self-motivation
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
- Organised with the ability to manage competing workloads
- Proven team player with a positive and supportive attitude
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience with Oracle Financials software
- Experience in higher education and/or research administration
- Studying towards level 3 or 4 of the AAT qualification
