What you’ll do day to day
- Write, develop and maintain a suite of Power Bi reports, SQL views and objects: tables, views, functions, stored procedures and agent jobs
- Meet with business owners to understand their reporting needs and create accurate and feature rich reporting solutions based on their requirements
- Develop and test SQL stored procedures and views to ensure that the report source data is accurate and in the correct format
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues, errors, and questions regarding data
- Reverse engineer stored procedures, user defined functions etc. that generate reports, views or impact data movement and storage
- Make prompt, technically sound decisions and recommendations that add value to business priorities and needs
- Validate reports and escalate issues in a timely manner suggesting improvements
- Keep working knowledge of latest features made available in Power BI releases and apply as applicable.
- Provide 2nd- and 3rd-line application support where required

- BSc degree from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience
- Strong experience as a SQL Developer - SQL Server 2012 or greater
- Experience in Power BI report development, design and data modelling concepts
- An excellent understanding of the Power BI service and Power BI update history
- A strong knowledge of the DAX language
- Experience with SSRS and SSIS
- A strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Dev Ops)
- Understanding of relational databases, data analysis, extracts, and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business (non-technical) and technical teams.
- Knowledge of data modelling, performance tuning, and optimisation.
- Experience with database query optimization techniques.
- Experience of Microsoft Power Apps, Python and/or R and knowledge of CDK Autoline or other Automotive systems desirable.
