Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to at University Hospitals of Leicester to work in the Paediatric specialty as a Development Lead. This role will complement the Practice Development team which is representative of the UHL imaging modalities, supporting expert practice in education, training, development, audit and governance within this specialty and more broadly within radiology.
The post holder should have an interest in teaching and enthusiasm for driving improvement to transform departmental training and the operational environment for Radiographers. The individual will be clinically visible in department and accessible for professional radiographic leadership, demonstrating expert knowledge and standards of clinical practice within their team.

The post holder will work, in conjunction with the Superintendent Radiographer, Consultant Radiologists and the wider paediatric team, providing expert practice in the field of Paediatric Imaging education, training, development, audit and governance. Continued professional development and justifying practice in line with current evidence base is expected, these standards will be implemented and maintained by leading in departmental audit and clinical governance. The post holder should have knowledge of changes within the region and keep training, learning and development programmes up to date and comparable to other Trusts. The post holder should have an interest in teaching and have enthusiasm for driving improvement to transform departmental training and operational environment for Radiographers.
The post holder will work co-operatively with Modality Managers, Imaging Workforce Lead and other staff in order to ensure that patients receive Imaging at its Best.

The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.
Responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that patients receive Imaging at its Best.
The post holder will demonstrate unsupervised clinical expertise and their knowledge and experience in their designated area of advanced practice contributing to the overall development and supervision of the radiology team. They will offer support, guidance and development of staff through a developed preceptorship programme from Bands 4-7
The post holder must be willing to undertake or possess a Postgraduate award in their area of expertise.
Job Plan - Clinical and administration time can be flexible with a minimum of approximately 60% Clinical. Full job plan arranged on commencement.
