You'll carry out vibration analysis, thermal imaging, laser alignment tasks and undertake minor remedial work where appropriate and raise work orders for more invasive remedial work where necessary, to our field service engineers.
You'll produce appropriate reports to assist the business in understanding the risk of asset failure across the Wastewater Treatment System and ensure potential problems are identified before they become critical and therefore maximise the availability, performance and reliability of our assets in a cost effective manner. You'll act as the subject matter expert in predictive maintenance techniques in the field, and as such assist maintenance colleagues in data collection techniques and technology to aid diagnosis.
Job Accountabilities
You'll be responsible for undertaking route based condition monitoring tasks on critical equipment with a view to maximising asset reliability with online monitoring of asset base through united utilities asset performance management platform. You'll also be responsible for:
- Undertaking ad hoc commissioning activities as required to ensure assets are received into our asset base appropriately and within tolerance
- Leading fault diagnosis on bad actors, and supporting root cause fault analysis sessions where appropriate.
- Developing a strong working relationship with operations and maintenance teams on the sites within your working area
- Diagnosing defects as early in the PF curve as possible using a combination of acoustic analysis, vibration analysis, thermography inspection and oil sampling as required
- Assisting operational and maintenance colleagues and other key stakeholders in understanding the risk associated with asset defects by translating your understanding of the assets place on the PF curve, your diagnosis of fault and communicating effectively it to those key stakeholders.
- Carrying out, track or coordinate remedial activities to operational assets as required within specified time frames and to level of training
- Providing confirmation that condition monitoring tasks have been carried out to relevant standards and at the identified frequencies through appropriate reporting
- Ensuring set targets are met thus supporting our business plan, departmental/business objectives/KPI's/Scorecard
- Asset data collection, validation, asset data amendment, task registration and de-registration activities in line with the corporate maintenance management system requirements
- Reviewing and optimising own maintenance schedules, identify and promote efficiency and reporting improvements
- Contributing towards the training, mentoring and coaching of apprentices and other maintenance colleagues where possible
- Complying with all company H&S requirements including reporting of H&S hazards/Concerns.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the condition based maintenance strategy within United Utilities
- The role can require lone working.
Knowledge and Skills
To be considered for this role you'll hold a relevant time served apprenticeship in Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering and hold City and Guilds NVQ / B-TEC/ONC/HNC in Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering. You'll also have:.
- Condition Based Maintenance & Condition Monitoring experience/knowledge.
- Good Mechanical Maintenance engineering knowledge and skills.
- Good working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, Statutory Regulations, Operations Procedures and Maintenance Procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Be willing to work to; ISO 18436-2 Level 2 Certification in Vibration Analysis / ISO 18436-7 Level 1 Certification in Thermography /ISO 18436-8 Level 1 Certification in Ultrasound /Training in Precision Shaft Alignment equipment
- Some water industry experience and/or knowledge
- Full UK driving Licence
- Ideally hold category 1 or 2 in Vibration Analysis, also category 1 in Thermography
