An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Forth Valley Pharmacy Services, working as part of the Medicines Management Team, for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Prescribing Support Nurse to lead on improvements in the use of non-medicine therapeutics across primary care and other health care settings.
The Medicines Management Team promotes the prescribing of evidence based therapeutics in a cost-effective, safe manner across NHS Forth Valley. The Prescribing Support Nurse role is a new post, which will provide focus on non-medicine therapeutics e.g. continence appliances, stoma products and wound care. The initial area of focus in the role will be around continence appliances.
You will work across a range of primary care settings including GP practices, community health clinics and care homes. You will work closely with the HSCP Chief Nurses, specialist nurses, pharmacists and AHPs, the primary care nursing directorate, individual nursing teams and care homes and be supported by the Medicines Management Team.
You will have excellent clinical knowledge and demonstrate critical appraisal and communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of innovation and delivering clinical or service improvement is essential with a focus on cost-effective prescribing. You must be committed to collaboration and partnership working, demonstrating leadership with outstanding people and engagement skills.
The post is a permanent position. Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week (part time or job share applications will be considered). Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery within Forth Valley is essential for this post.
