We are recruiting for Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools based around the Plymouth area.
Are you an individual who has experience working closely with students needing additional support in the classroom. Working as a SEN Teaching Assistant is a highly rewarding role, which requires patience and understanding of specific needs. This role focuses on dedicated support for students with emotional or behavioural needs within mainstream education.
The role:
You will be working within small groups, or on a 1-2-1 basis, helping students within a learning environment and supporting them with their learning plan to enable them to achieve their goals. You will be able to engage with the children and find their passions to help the teaching staff deliver creative lessons that can capture the imagination of any student. Ideally, we are looking for someone with excellent transferable skills, who is passionate about working with children.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver personalised assistance to students with SEN, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement effective support strategies.
• Contribute to monitoring and assessing the progress of students with SEN.
• Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Support the creation of an environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students.
Requirements:
• SEN Experience: Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is advantageous.
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to apply
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and show initiative.
