GSL Education is actively seeking an enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Thornhill, Southampton. This role is ideal for those aspiring to gain valuable experience before pursuing teacher training.
About the Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role:
- Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
- Support the Class Teacher in various aspects of the day-to-day classroom operations.
- Provide learning support for pupils in both class and 1:1 situations.
- Implement individualised behaviour interventions and prioritize the safety of the children.
The successful candidate should:
- Possess a Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Collaborate with teachers and support students, especially those with autism, Asperger's, and challenging behavior.
- Have prior experience with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a school setting.
- Be a confident, outgoing, and personable individual with a passion for helping others.
- Demonstrate a nurturing and compassionate approach to supporting teaching and learning.
- Understand how to support the inclusion and progress of students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
To work as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant with GSL Education, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have a minimum of 6 months of experience in an educational setting or the healthcare sector.
- Possess an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
