What you’ll be doing:
You will assist in project reviews and co-ordination and complete and validate designs based on sound technical knowledge relevant to the role
Plan, review and manage projects (both bids and live projects) ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met and are undertaken in accordance with the Integrated Management and Quality Assurance systems
Support technological improvements to ensure the Building Services cost centre is ‘future proof’
Establish and maintain good relationships with external project team members or existing clients and key stakeholders
Support strategic business plans and provide support to wider business development initiatives
Act as Project Lead or Discipline Lead on projects with overall responsibility for technical delivery for your discipline
Ensure all monthly project financial information, related to your projects, is analysed and updated accordingly in collaboration with your line manager
Undertake high-level project technical and quality reviews of specifications, reports and drawings produced by the team
Carry out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects
Undertake feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stages
Attend design team and client team meetings and attend value engineering workshops and risk workshops
Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems
Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects
Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team
Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue
Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors
Attend site as part of the construction phase activities of projects and participate in site meetings
Assist in the preparation of snagging lists, valuations (if required) and end of defects inspections as required
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to deliver client and project presentations with skill and confidence.
You will need to be able to review and interpret external consultants’ deliverables e.g. thermal modelling, Part L reports, overheating, CFD. Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
Heating ventilation and cooling design
Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health
Heating systems
Above Ground drainage
HVAC control principles
Use of Hevacomp / IES or equivalent
