Pay Rate: up to £42.31 per hour PAYE depending on experience
37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 3 months
City: THRAPSTON
Manage the day to day control of building work within the district. Be the lead contact for major/complex projects as allocated by the Building Control Manager, in respect of plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Checking plans and notices for compliance with Building Regulations and ancillary legislation, preparation of amendment schedules.
Processing plans and notices, preparing notices, passing/rejecting plans and other matters within statutory time limitations.
Corresponding, discussing and liaising with all necessary bodies and people regarding plans, notices and other matters. Fire Service, Water Authorities as appropriate.
Inspection of work of work on site in connection with all types of development.
Ensure that fees and charges are recovered, including supplementary charges, in relation to Building Control applications in accordance with the scheme of charges and the controlling legislation.
Undertake investigations of alleged breaches of Building Regulations, including the identification of contraventions, the gathering of evidence for proceedings and attendance at court hearings, in accordance with the Enforcement Concordat and statutory timescales.
Maintain concise, organised records of site inspections, telephone conversations, meetings and emails.
Adopt the ‘Development Team Approach’ to secure cross Departmental compliance.

Qualifications:
Have an HND / HNC or equivalent professional qualification in a building surveying or a related subject or be qualified by experience in a similar role.
Knowledge:
Good knowledge of Building Regulations, asbestos awareness and Health & Safety legislation.
Experience:
Experience of delivering projects within agreed timescales and with quality outcomes, including effective planning, managing and monitoring programs of work.
Skills & Abilities:
Communication skills- be able to explain complex schedules and plans to applicants in an accessible way and keep people updated on progress.
Ability to plan and deliver building works including effective planning, managing and monitoring programs of work
Have the ability to monitor and interpret KPI data as well as use the data to assess the contractor's performance.
Have the ability to co-ordinate one's own workload, manage conflicting priorities in a pressurised work environment to meet deadlines.
Be a proficient user of the AutoCAD software.
