Opportunity: Principal Category Manager
Salary: £70 - £ 81.37 per hr (inside IR35)
Location: Hybrid in Aldermaston
Contract Duration: 12 months

We are currently looking for a Principal Category Manager for our government client. This Principal Category Manager role is hybrid, based between 2 days per week on site in Aldermaston and the remainder of the week working remotely.

The contract for the Principal Category Manager position is initially for 12 months, offering an hourly rate within the range of £ 70 to £ 81.37, operating inside IR35.

Security Clearance: Security Check (SC Clearance)

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role, it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Role Profile/Responsibilities:

Drive, implement and execute Category Management, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationship Management for a complex group of categories, with the ultimate objective of leveraging and securing the supplier base to support its current and future business requirements, whilst mitigating risks. The Principal Category Manger is accountable for the end-to-end category performance for the category group and for driving and managing multimillion-pound Procurements.

• Procurement - Ability to work with stakeholders
• Manage the procurement through start to finish
• Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels internal and external
• Public sector experience/background
• PCR regulation or Defence and security regulations. (MOD/Central gov)
• From a highly regulated industry background
• Commercial management/Contract management
• NEC Contract experience
• Can write a sourcing strategy
• Develop, implement and drive Category Strategy for a complex group of categories, meet business strategy and efficiencies (savings)
• Ensure Supplier Relationship Management for key suppliers, with the objective of managing risk, managing performance and extracting more value from the supplier base.
• Develop and sign off Supplier Strategies
• Act as Sourcing Business Partner for certain areas of the business or Pillars: being accountable for the Sourcing contribution (including efficiencies and risk mitigation
• Use category expertise and external markets insights, to proactively propose alternative or innovative 3rd party solutions to senior and executive level stakeholders
• Develop the Category Team and drive a high-performance culture: secure competence development within the team, manage performance in accordance with clear goals and manage team motivation to support Supply Chain Management transformation.
• Drive Supply Chain Management transformation
• Support and provide input to the Process and Performance team as appropriate.
• Support the development and interface with the Service Centre.
