Role: Principal Category Manager - Commercial
Contract Length: Anticipated 12 months, possible extension
Location: Reading hybrid working – 2 days per week on site average
Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate
We are seeking a Principal Category Manager to be responsible for leading, implementing, and overseeing Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and Supplier Relationship Management within a diverse set of categories.
You will enhance and strengthen the supplier network of the organisation, ensuring it can effectively support both present and future business requirements while mitigating risks. The Principal Category Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete performance range of the category group and leading significant multimillion-pound procurement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop, implement and drive Category Strategy for a complex group of categories, balancing short and long-term objectives to meet business strategy and
Oversee the execution of the end to end strategic sourcing process for all complex and high value Procurements within the categories in the group, to deliver as well as to anticipate business requirements and needs
Ensure Supplier Relationship Management for key suppliers who have a significant impact on business, with the objective of managing risk, managing performance and extracting more value from the supplier base.
Develop and sign off Supplier Strategies with the objective of minimising risk and maximizing value.
Use category expertise and external markets insights, to proactively propose alternative or innovative 3rd party solutions to senior and executive level stakeholders to anticipate issues before they arise.
Develop the Category Team and drive a high-performance culture
Key requirements:
Ability to manage the procurement through start to finish
Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels internal and external
Public sector experience/background
PCR regulation or Defence and security regulations
High regulated industry background
Commercial management/Contract management
NEC Contract experience
