Role: Principal Data Science Consultant

About Us: Join British Airways' Digital Directorate, a pivotal force driving innovation and excellence within our airline. As a Principal Data Science Consultant, you will be at the heart of our efforts to harness Data Science for business performance improvements, collaborating with stakeholders and leading a dynamic team.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and prioritise the analytics portfolio for the business partnering area.
• Provide deep knowledge of the business area and proactively challenge to drive optimal business decisions.
• Structure ill-defined and complex problems into key issues, advising on appropriate analytical techniques.
• Manage senior stakeholders confidently, becoming the key contact for analytical consultative advice.
• Ensure the quality and timeliness of analytic products and maintain data integrity.
• Report on the value of projects and advocate for the team across BA.
• Foster a continuous improvement culture, encouraging the use of new ideas and technology.
• Lead and work within self-tasking agile scrum teams, ensuring adherence to frameworks and principles.

What You’ll Bring to British Airways:

• Strong data manipulation and Data Science skills; proficient in Python, R, and SQL.
• Leadership and coaching abilities in Data Science techniques such as machine learning, forecasting, and optimisation.
• Ability to structure ill-defined business problems into concise issues.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills; capable of presenting to large groups and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders across BA and IAG.
• Proactive knowledge sharing with the business and analyst community.

Your Experience:

• Numerate degree with Data Science components or highly relevant experience.
• Proven experience in applying Data Science to business problems and leading teams in delivering solutions.
• Ability to develop deep business knowledge and understand BA’s business plan and key initiatives.
• Awareness of BA’s main competitors and key external factors of influence.
