The role
The General Medical Council has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Research Manager to work with the UK Medical Education Database (UKMED) – a platform for collating data on the performance of UK medical students and trainee doctors across their education and future career.
We are looking for candidates with the leadership skills to oversee the work programme, building positive working relationships with senior figures within the GMC and with senior external stakeholders. With experience of managing a complex programme of work with multiple stages, the role will involve co-ordination between different organisations and external partners throughout the year.
The Principal Research Manager will act as a primary contact for UKMED researchers, as well as with the organisations we work with to acquire data. You will oversee UKMED’s governance processes and manage our relationships with key external stakeholders to develop strategy, and plan for future growth of the work programme. Your responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with prospective and approved UKMED researchers to support them through the process of making applications and accessing data extracts.
- Working with the UKMED chair and Advisory Board members to develop and implement a strategy for the future of the work programme.
- Working with the UKMED data manager to ensure the data collection processes that underpin UKMED are effectively resourced and carried out in an efficient manner.
These are hybrid roles between home working and office working, you’ll work 1 day a week in the office, or more if you prefer. We may ask you to attend the office on additional days where necessary, for example team meetings.
