What is the opportunity?
The successful candidate will be responsible for championing the role of excellent design and place-making in the Planning Service and wider Council. You will lead on and be responsible for providing timely specialist Urban Design advice to Development Management staff and developers on complex and major planning applications, pre-applications and appeals to shape healthy and sustainable places.
In this role ,you will develop and motivate the Conservation & Design Team, celebrating individual and team successes and meeting performance standards, all the while being committed to the needs of customers.
You will have an excellent knowledge base of relevant law, policies, theories, best practices and procedures in Urban Design with a proven record of negotiating successful outcomes, having worked collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
We therefore welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Urban Design. A successful applicant would require a degree level standard of education or have an equivalent level of experience.
