Principal Welding Engineer – Marine / Defence
Devonport – Hybrid working.
Rate – Up to �100p/h (Outside IR35)
Contract length – 52 Weeks
About the role:
Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with a Large UK defence client to recruit a Principal Welding Engineer on a 52-week contract for its Devonport site. As the Principal Welding Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of 8 Welding Engineers that work alongside the Non-Destructive Testing and Welding Compliance Team to ensure the management of high-quality welding.
The Principal Welding Engineer role comes with rate of between �70p/h - �100p/h (DOE).
Key skills:
* Work in conjunction with companies Weld Quality Management System (ISO3834-2) to ensure quality practises are abided by.
* Review of sub-contractor’s quality systems to ensure the department maintains a high quality of welding throughout the site.
* Department representative on sub-contracting projects to give welding support.
* Complete of audits against external sub-contractor against ISO 3834-2 and company processes
* The authoring of technical engineering reports/proposals for bespoke welding techniques utilising materials knowledge.
* Hold an IWE/EWE Diploma
* Hold a MSc in Welding Engineering – Desirable
* Be a Chartered Engineer
Location, remuneration and timeframe of the PMO Manager role:
* Based in Devonport – hybrid working.
* Role is Outside IR35 and is paying up to �100p/h (DOE)
* Role required SC/DV security Clerance.
* Will be a 52-week contract.
