Your role: You will be at the centre of our print production operations, playing a pivotal role in bringing news and information to the public through high-quality printed materials. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence are paramount. You will have the ability to work in a team, setting up and running the press, whilst maintaining quality controls and efficiency KPIs. This is primarily a nightshift role.
Day to day you will:
Maintain the quality and performance of all titles throughout the production run, in-line with editorial and customer expectations
Ability to work collaboratively in group settings on problems relating to product quality
Exercise sound operational judgement, either independently, or under the general direction of Print Production Managers
Perform work based activities requiring strong communication skills, cooperation, instruction and persuasion within a fast paced environment
Provide technical assistance and support to the manufacturing print team management, including the management of materials, records and workplace information. Ensure maintenance, pre/post run checks and cleaning standards are met for all work areas
Provide technical advice to associated staff working with the press team
Participate in programmes for training in quality control concepts and measuring techniques
Assist with trials and development of new products and working practices in accordance with the needs of the business, and focus around continual improvement
Display flexibility in the operational role to help meet production needs
Attend relevant training activities to support learning in the role, and individual personal development
What we’re looking for from you:
Knowledge, combined with practical experience, of the web fed printing process, press operation, set-up, colour desk, plating up procedures.
Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
Experience of problem solving and confident decision making in a fast paced environment.
Efficient and accurate reporting skills
Experience of the printer role on a press is essential.
