Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for an Informatics Procurement Business Partner within the Procurement and eCommerce Department to support the Informatics Transformation Programme. The Barts Health estate comprises five main sites, several satellite locations and a corporate site in Canary Wharf. The Informatics Procurement Business Partner is a hands-on role and the successful applicant needs to balance strategic with tactical operational priorities, often on a daily basis. No day at Bart Health is exactly the same and if you have a ‘can do’ attitude, you will flourish in this role. Leadership, resilience, energy and effective skills in problem resolution are of paramount importance.
To support our ambitious journey, we are seeking a talented Informatics Procurement leader with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our Procurement Business Partner team and work collaboratively with our CIO and Deputy Director Informatics to embed sustainable change. To succeed in this dynamic role, you will need to move at pace, be engaging, flexible, pragmatic and be collaborative. This is in addition to an aptitude for sourcing, supplier engagement and stakeholder management.
The Procurement Department has also made great strides to transform itself into one of the highest performing Department’s in the NHS. We were the first Acute Trust in London to be awarded Level 1 Accreditation by the Skills Development Network. Over the next 12 months, we will be progressing towards the NHS CCIAF accreditation programme and intend to expand our commercial contract management and SRM offering Trust wide.
Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.
Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which ourWeCarevalues and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.
We strive to live by ourWeCarevalues and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
We are dedicated to being an outstanding place to work and will work with you to get the best experience. We know flexible working is not a one size fits all and will mean something different to everyone. We are inclusive, so if you are interested in flexible working, please speak to the recruiting manager.
We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are underrepresented within Barts Health at this band.
Over the last few years, Barts Procurement have embarked on an ambitious journey to shape the strategic direction of the Department with a specific focus on up-skilling Commercial and ‘soft skills’ and leveraging our scale to put in place strategic and category wide deals across the NEL Integrated Care System to benefit patients. To support our staff through the pandemic, we launched a Well Being initiative and adopted a hybrid approach to our working arrangements across sites and Canary Wharf offices.
The Trust delivers a range of care including the treatment of cancer, heart conditions, fertility problems, endocrinology, sexual health conditions, minor injuries units, paediatric Accident and Emergency, air ambulance services, trauma and emergency care centres, hyper-acute stroke care, outpatient and community based services including diabetes, sexual health, rheumatology, radiology, MSK physiotherapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, community nursing, emergency care, surgery, children’s health, women’s health and maternity services, specialist medicine, long-term care, diagnostics and dedicated stroke units.
The Trust have set out their strategic direction defining how in its current state, the strategic objectives and relevant local health economy priorities are not fully supported. With its increasing reliance on technology to deliver healthcare services, it is therefore of high importance to establish a robust underlying infrastructure, in order to enable to high quality, digitally driven clinical care as part of the Trust’s paperless ambitions.
The Trust Board have approved a business case that sets out a programme to achieve this strategic direction. The programme aims to invest in technology infrastructure to establish resilient, reliable, scalable and flexible technology infrastructure that serves as the foundation for the Trust’s clinical and operational activities and has defined the following ‘technology packages’ in scope for investment and improvement: network, data centres, end user devices and related services, and service desk.
