Barnet are looking for a Procurement Specialist with Adult Social Care background. This role is for three months pending perm recruitment.
This is hybrid working. There is a requirement to attend the office e.g for IT equipment, and occasional FTF meetings but usual working from home.
To work as part of a dynamic specialist Procurement team to deliver strategic Procurement in line with best practice guidance and leading on specific projects within a portfolio of projects/programmes that deliver high value, improved and cost efficiency savings across the council.
Assist the Team Leader in the delivery of the annual work plan ensuring performance to key milestones and agreed key performance indicators are achieved.
Where required, with support, to take a lead on delivering the end–to–end procurement process for routine procurements and/or lead specific policy/system/training initiatives.
Work with internal and external customers to ensure queries are dealt with efficiently and effectively. To be the welcoming response to clients /contractors and signposting them to the correct area of the Procurement Service.
Professional Membership/Qualification
Professional membership of MCIPS or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
Relevant post graduate training or membership of relevant professional body.
Experience & Knowledge
Educated to degree level in relevant academic subject with significant technical knowledge or have the relevant practical experience to demonstrate a commensurate level of technical knowledge
In depth knowledge of Government Sourcing Playbook and HMT Managing Public Money
Excellent Knowledge of Contract Management practices and processes
Excellent knowledge of practical and effective risk and change management
Excellent knowledge of Public Procurement Requirements
Excellent Knowledge of Budget Management Practices
Excellent knowledge of staff management
Providing coaching and mentoring at a management level to support the embedding of a value for money culture
Presenting information to a range of key stakeholders to secure buy–in and engagement
