Job description

Our client is a rapidly expanding family run business, with over 15 years’ experience in construction, joinery and shopfitting and they are now looking to recruit a Procurement & Purchasing Manager / Buyer with construction related sector experience to join the growing team.

Skills and experience:

Comprehensive technical knowledge, ideally from a construction/fit out back ground, with strong understanding of construction materials and small tool and plant.

Full understanding of the buying process and appreciation of supply chain management.

Computer literate, fundamental that individual can use word and excel to create unaided written correspondence and spreadsheets.

Knowledge of Eque 2 or other industry purchasing software packages, digital measuring software and Microsoft office an advantage.

Ability to interact with both suppliers and site teams with confidence and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.

Demonstrates initiative, is not fazed by problems, and has an ability to find solutions.

Typical Duties:

The role will involve providing a comprehensive day to day buying service to allocated projects.

Obtaining quotes and negotiating prices with suppliers.

Sourcing specified and alternative materials within the market space ensuring technical

compliance.

Research the market, source and evaluate potential new suppliers.

Placing material and plant orders from written and verbal requisitions with approved suppliers.

Organising materials and plant for sites. Issuing orders for sub-contractors, consultants and specialists.

Take offs and schedules.

Negotiating payment terms.

Negotiating T&C's.

Issuing Purchase Orders

Arranging Pro-forma invoices.

Arranging supplier credit facilities.

Feasibility budgets.

Cost to date and cost to complete forecasts.

Hiring and off hiring of plant.

Manage a hired and owned plant register.

Dealing with day to day site queries.

Cost comparisons for product selection.

Variations.

Assessing value of materials on site for further draw down applications.

Monitoring all goods and plant received,

Processing GRN’s received on and off site.

Vetting invoices against orders and presenting for payment.

Liaising with site teams, designers, accounts team.

Assisting the Commercial Team with QS duties.

Attend internal/external meetings.

Relationship holder with suppliers.

Working from Bolton office with occasional travel to site. Flexible working will be possible when and if required.  Interviews are ongoing so apply now.
