A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Product Developer to work in our facility in Severn Beach on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. The purpose of this role is to support the NPD Manager to deliver key projects and manage product development for other customers and Bart brands. To be an ambassador for the innovation process with the wider NPD team; and to support the development of a foodie culture and consumer driven focus to development; seeking out insights, trends, new competitor products and promote product knowledge.
The main responsibilities of this role are:
· · Leads product development brainstorms with an ideas led approach, identifying commercial opportunities driven from market, category and consumer insight.
- To understand & facilitate others through the gated NPD process supporting members of the team.
- To receive Funnel concepts and with the Project Sponsor, write clear briefs and timelines.
- To maintain the brief to ensure all documentation is completed and profitability is tracked.
- To develop delicious product recipes that champion flavour, are on trend and meet the capabilities of our factories.
- Ensure all product information required for the launch of the product is completed in the correct format.
- Attend and co-ordinate benchmarking sessions.
- Understand nutrition and labelling law with support from Technical and be the ‘Go to’ expert for product features and benefits.
- To formulate, develop and prepare samples in accordance with company and customer capabilities/guidelines.
- Co-ordinate Post Launch Reviews.
· Writes and gives internal presentations and customer presentations with support.
· Able to reach objectively good negotiation results, efficiently, maintaining relationships.
Person specification/Qualifications/Capabilities:
· Desirable – a minimum of two years commercial food development background, preferably in an FMCG environment.
· Relevant food qualification or degree- Food Science or Food Technology Degree/HND.
· Passionate about flavour, food and innovation.
· Excellent listening and facilitation skills.
· Good commercial awareness and is accurate and methodical in approach.
· Good communication and presentation skills.

The hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday. Bart Ingredients offers flexible working, the core working hours are between 9.30am-3.30pm with the remainder of working hours being worked between 7am-6pm.
This role is applicable for remote working which enables you to work up to 2 days a week from home.
