Product Engineer

Working for a niche design and manufacturing business who develop products for the automotive industry. This is a great opportunity to join a busy engineering team supporting new product design.
Your new role
As a Product Engineer, you will co-ordinate and facilitate technical information across the business related to the responsible product line, working closely with the engineering department, project management teams and business wide cross-functional team members. You will support development and release of new products, working to agreed internal and customer specifications. You will support the Product Manager by providing input to the product line roadmap, assist with product lifecycle management, managing component obsolescence within the product line.
You will support the team by producing bill of materials and assembly time ensuring products meets agreed targets, liaise with project teams to deliver APQP deliverables for approved projects, lead and provide APQP evidence at project gateways for customers and management at regular intervals.
You will lead and create concepts, full product designs and drawings using CAD, ensuring product is designed for manufacture, cost and quality whilst meeting agreed requirements, specifications and market legislation.
Working with the project teams you will co-ordinate the release of product specifications, gaining technical input from the wider engineering team, participate in the assembly of prototypes, test and validation of product features and functionality. Working with quality teams you will participate in customer returns process and 8D methodology to manage and resolve quality issues, using the defects to refine any product designs.
What you\'ll need to succeed
You will hold a Degree or HND/HNC in mechatronics engineering or similar, be able to demonstrate experience of supporting existing products in production, launching new variants and managing product evolution/lifecycle. You will have experience of working within varying teams, including software, electronics and other engineering disciplines, you will have a keen eye for detail, great organisational, communication and team-working skills. You will have CAD/3D modelling experience with advanced analytical and design skills, have a flexible and agile approach, with the ability to manage time well to complete a project within a set deadline.
