Job description

About The Role

Reporting to the VRM Product Principle, this role will be responsible for the product management of the De-Fleet Optimisation Product.
We remarket every vehicle that is handed back by Motability Scheme customers, which means on average 250,000 cars a year, with this number set to increase dramatically.  As the Product Manager for De-Fleet Optimisation, you’re responsible for the products that price and route cars through the de-fleet processes and onto the optimum sales channel.

As our de-fleet volumes increase, the vehicles we remarket evolve and the customer demand changes, the Optimisation Product will be key to optimizing pricing and routing decisions and delivering maximum commercial benefit.

We are a commercially focused, data-led division, and you will help pave the way as we implement technology to move us to the next level of optimisation and use millions of datapoints to maximise the value we achieve for £3bn of vehicles.

You’ll work closely with the Commercial Operations Senior Leadership Team to quantify and prioritise the problems worth solving, and then make sure your product teams fully understand them, can link their strategies to the objectives and have the insights and autonomy they need to deliver excellent solutions at speed.

You’ll be responsible for refreshing and maintaining a product strategy that aligns to the wider Commercial Operations strategy and empowers your team to solve the highest priority problems moving your product in the right direction. You will drive the product discovery and champion a data-led, test and learn approach.

You’ll make sure the product teams have the direction, data and insights they need to maximise our current capabilities. You’ll also work closely with stakeholders, Data and Technology to identify and implement new technologies to optimise decision-making, automate decisions where appropriate and ultimately maximise the premium we achieve for our cars.

As the Product Manager, you’ll lead and coach POs in their respective teams to foster a culture where teams are truly empowered to solve problems, delivering excellent solutions that address business and user needs while maximising commercial value.

About You

You can take a vision and strategy and lead teams through discovery to understand how to deliver incremental improvements that lead to the overall vision, inspiring and motivating teams to deliver fantastic outcomes, while empowering them to solve problems.
You have domain specific ML experience and have experience of how to implement suitable technology to optimise decision-making and achieve the optimum outcome, with a passion for understanding how new technologies can be introduced to further improve outcomes and performance.
You are an experienced Product Manager in a machine learning (ML) field, with a record of launching and scaling machine learning models, that allow users to make the best use of ML models in a clear and productive way. You have hands on experience working with ML tooling, data platforms and infrastructure in a commercial setting and have a data science/software engineering skillset.
You are passionate about driving commercial outcomes and understand how technology and data can drive more informed decisions. You believe in the power of data and how it can be used to improve processes, drive efficiencies and maximise the resources available whilst allowing us to capitalise on commercial opportunities, embracing the test and learn approach.
You will have experience of leading teams and be an effective communicator with a track record of developing, coaching and empowering teams through regular team meetings, 1:1s and performance reviews, offering continuous support and development.
