Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a UK wide manufacturer with their search for a Production Manager, for their facility based just outside of Middlesbrough. Their site is commutable from Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington, Newton aycliffe and North Yorkshire.
Principle Responsibilities of the Production Manager
* Managing production resources effectively to ensure contracts run to time and budget, whilst also maximising productivity
* Ensure our products are made using the correct methods, to the technical specifications and standards
* Lead the identification and implementation of opportunities for continuous improvement, production cost reductions and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
* Manage a safe working environment by ensuring that Health & Safety requirements identified are addressed in a timely manner
* People management of a large team to include managing performance, disciplinary, time management, recruitment, holiday and absence cover
* Develop KPI‘s and ensure they are reported on a frequent basis
Key Tasks of the Production Manager
* Scheduling and capacity planning, including communication and organisation of resource to ensure on-time delivery, efficiency and cost control.
* Ensure the staff work responsibility in accordance with the H&S system.
* Drive Lean Manufacturing & 5S ideas, methods and standards.
* Initiate, actively participate, manage and support initiatives to improve areas such as production efficiency, health & safety and engineering in order to achieve or exceed the company objectives.
* Liaising with internal customers with regard to deliveries, priorities and overdue orders
* Investigate and re-invent suitable testing procedures and equipment
* Ensure all non-conformances, quality and assembly issues are invetigated in a timely manner
* Develop the team and individuals to improve performance by:
* Work closely with the engineering departments, providing input on deign ideas and improvements
* Communicating professionally and effectively with all levels in the business
Skills & Experience of the Production Manager
* Minimum of three years' experience within the manufacturing industry in a Supervisor or production management role
* Experience of producing manufacturing information and knowledge of Design for Manufacture techniques.
* Experience working in low volume high complexity manufacturing environments
* A degree in engineering or manufacturing or relevant experience
* Working knowledge ERP systems preferrably SAP
* Experience in all aspects of utilising Lean Principles, the Quality Toolset and Manufacturing - Best Practice in everyday production processes while maintaining production pace
* Knowledge and experience of root cause analysis, and continuous improvement techniques
* 5S Training and Lean Sigma experience
* A detail focused individual with strong time management in the pursuit of deadlines
* Effective communicator internally who can work across various functions to ensure outcomes are achieved.
* Previous history of delivering production improvements
* Ability to produce & present graphs/KPI's.
* The ability to manage and develop a team
