Our client has been established for more than 30 years and specialise in the design, development, manufacture and installation of highest quality fabricated display products for a range of industry sectors and household name clients, and due to the imminent retirement of a valued employee, are now seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive and hands-on Production Manager to complement their professional team.
Based near Stockport and tasked with overseeing all areas of production and continuous improvement within their busy manufacturing operation, the successful Production Manager candidate will be skilled in all aspects of man-management, driving and sustaining change and ensuring increased quality and production through the effective management and utilisation of the existing team and resources.
Able to demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience in the supervision or management of a busy engineering production environment, you will be an articulate and enthusiastic individual who thrives within a "hands on" production environment in which your knowledge and experience of lean methodologies and continuous improvement can be imparted to the workforce in order to empower and develop those around you and ensure that process improvements are sustained.
Core responsibilities for this varied and challenging Production Manager role will include (but not be limited to):
- Work to set/ review data on targets to maximise operational efficiency.
- Organise, lead and motivate the team to ensure production targets are
- Planning and issuing of production
- Communicate effectively at all levels and driving the company culture that is focused on quality, continuous improvement, development and high performance to ensure the quality standards of the product portfolio are adhered to.
- Ensuring a safe working environment by driving and ensuring compliance with relevant H&S regulations and applicable legislation.
- Directing all aspects of PPM and reactive breakdown maintenance across the production plant, machinery and equipment as required.
It is envisaged that the success candidate will demonstrate excellent problem solving skills and previous success gained in a Production or Manufacturing Management position associated with an engineering and industrial environment, and will essentially possess knowledge and experience of the processing of steel bar, sheet metal/ tube/ wire through machining, fabrication, coating, assembly and packing sections, along with considerable lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience in order to ensure added value, reduced waste, improved quality and production targets are achieved and exceeded.
You will have comprehensive knowledge and experience of managing health and safety within the workplace along with excellent commercial awareness and budget management skills, with a relevant qualification (HND or above) in Production or Manufacturing Engineering proving particularly advantageous.
