An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, pro-active individual to work as a Production Scientist within a well-established organisation, based in the Hertfordshire area.
Duties:
- Assisting in the manufacturing process of pharmaceutical products, including oral and topical medications, as well as cytotoxic drugs.
- Packaging and dispatching medicinal products for delivery to customers.
- Efficiently controlling stock and raw materials through manual stock checks.
- Maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when changes to production procedures are noted.
- Monitoring temperatures, devices, and equipment calibration within the laboratory.
- Documenting the booking in and dispatch of medicinal products.
- Handling customer inquiries and organizing stock on shelves.
- Processing orders using an in-house stock control system.
- Preparing dispensing worksheets, calculating quantities required for product preparation.
- Receiving, sampling, and testing raw materials, components, and reagents using analytical instrumentation.
- Comparing raw materials against their reference samples.
- Assisting the QA Department with maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Performing monthly QA tasks within the agreed timescale.
- Conducting daily and monthly equipment calibrations to ensure equipment is fit for its intended use.
- Performing clean room plating to ensure microbiological counts are within set limits.
- Adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) guidelines along with SOPs to facilitate the day-to-day manufacture of bespoke and batched specials.
- Managing stock levels and ordering required raw materials, consumables, and reagents from approved suppliers.
- Verifying received certificates (CoAs, TSE certificates, WCs, GMP certificates, ISO certificates, and MSDSs).
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years of industrial experience within biotechnology or a related industry.
