What does the role look like?
Join Collins Aerospace in Wolverhampton as a Production Shift Manager and lead our dynamic team within the Heat Treatment and Special Process departments. As a pivotal member of our manufacturing operations, you will oversee and coordinate production activities to ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and safety are maintained. Leveraging your strong leadership skills and manufacturing expertise, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives and optimize production processes. What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Manage team of operators across Heat treat and Special Process
- Ensure everyone is working safely and EHS KPIs are achieved.
- Ensuring Customer Demands are met in full and quality standards are fulfilled.
- Manage operator performance.
- Promote Innovation and Continuous improvement with all areas with operator
- engagement.
- Interact with Planning team to ensure planning requests are achieved
What will you bring to the role?
Essential skills:
- Demonstrated Leadership: Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams within a manufacturing environment for at least 5 years.
- Key Personality Attributes: Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey ideas and instructions, adept time management abilities to prioritize tasks efficiently, and flexibility to adapt to evolving situations.
- Proficiency in Lean and Continuous Improvement: Hands-on experience or comprehensive understanding of Lean principles and Continuous Improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence and efficiency enhancements.
Desirable skills:
- Ideal qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing or related field.
- Proficiency in implementing and sustaining the Principles of 5S.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Aerospace/Automotive/Manufacturing industry.
- Experience in Special Processes or Heat Treatment would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of shop floor management practices.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to make sound and decisive decisions.
- Ambitious mindset with a drive for success.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing work demands and priorities.
