We are recruiting for a Production Shift Manager to join a global group of companies who specialise in the manufacture of drainage and piping solutions above and below ground. You will be based at their site in Swadlincote which produces clay drainage pipes, with a loyal and friendly team culture!
This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday on a rotating 3-shift pattern of 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm–6am. The salary for this Production Shift Manager role is £48,000 per annum plus excellent benefits as below!
As a Production Shift Manager you will have the ability to inspire, motivate and develop the team. You will be reporting into the Head of Production and have the following responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, motivate and energise your team of up to 12 Production Operatives (both temp and perm) to consistently deliver the business objectives.
- Use & promote short interval controls, systems & behaviours to control operational costs, identify & minimise non-value adding activities & waste, and to utilise resources efficiently.
- Deploy production & maintenance labour and resources to achieve site activities in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage absence, restrictions and return to work conversations.
- Drive and improve compliance and health and safety and report on near misses
- Actively participating in safety campaigns and scheduled site safety activities, and by managing site injuries and outcomes
- Produce daily and weekly reports and develop, promote and report using the SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People) process
- Be hands on and support shop floor activities when needed
- Identify and address performance issues
- Take part in maintaining the necessary skill sets within site teams and support recruitment and training, including own personal development.
- Engage in the development, implementation and delivery of improvement plans for production
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience working as a Shift Manager or Production Manager
- Minimum 3-5 years management experience (ILM, NEBS or CMI qualifications welcome but not essential)
- Good working knowledge of H&S legislation
- Modern production management techniques with familiarity of lean manufacturing and CI required
- Good IT skills including MS Office and ERP systems (SAP would be advantageous)
- Must be able to positively influence and build good working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation
- Must be able to demonstrate a flexible management style
