Job Title: Programme Director

Location and flexible working: Birmingham, London, Edinburgh (Hybrid, Flexible)

Salary and benefits: £110,000 - £130,000 DOE plus 30% bonus up to 60%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more

We have very exciting opportunity to join our Financial Management Portfolio team as a Programme Director leading our significant change programmes.

The Role

We have a significant portfolio of Finance change at Phoenix and are looking for a Programme Director to support the delivery of Finance Transformation. We have a planned 3 year programme of work and are looking for an experienced Programme Director to work with the Business Sponsors and lead to the Programme managing scope, budget and resources.

Our change portfolio is critical to the success of The Phoenix Group’s Strategy and is made up of a wide range of initiatives including large transformation programmes, platform migrations, customer improvement programmes, and integration of acquired businesses. As a highly acquisitive business, we also support the Group’s M&A activity where required.

Our programmes are complex cross-divisional and cross-functional initiatives with multiple substituent projects and workstreams (10+). They typically have budgets between £25m-150m, involve delivery teams well in of excess of 100+, and require close coordination with our strategic 3rd party partners.

As Programme Director you will be responsible for overall delivery on behalf of the executive sponsor and act as the primary contact for our executives and other key stakeholders in relation to our programmes. You will lead all aspects of significant change programmes, including shaping, approach and driving day-to-day delivery to make sure they deliver to core objectives / required business outcomes providing direction and oversight to the programme management and PMO teams, ensuring programmes are structured and operate with robust reporting, controls and programme management processes in place. The successful candidate will Chair Programme Steering Committees and other significant working groups and represent the programme at our other enterprise committees and our boards (where required). Active management of key stakeholders, including being primary interface with our strategic 3rd party partners in relation to the programmes is essential as is the development of programme business cases and management and tracking of programme budgets and benefit delivery. Building effective teams of Programme Managers, Project Managers and PMO resources to support successful delivery of our programmes is key as is actively identifying and managing key risk and issues and driving through to effective resolution, influencing key stakeholders as required.

What are we looking for?

Experience within the Life and Pensions Industry delivering Finance change Programmes is essential as is a track record of successful Finance Change implementations including actuarial. You will have a good understanding of Finance processes and data and the ability to focus on the business outcomes and ensuring any change is focused on the delivery of these outcomes. Experience in the design of technology solutions to meet required business outcomes and experience of self-build delivery and leading £10m+ programmes of work managing stakeholders and teams to a strong vision are key. You will be a proven leader with significant experience and a strong track record of delivering similarly large complex change programmes as a Programme Director and have excellent stakeholder management skills and be comfortable operating in the c-suite environment.
