Job description

The role

The Southwark Insights and Intelligence programme (SIIP) is a cross Council three-year initiative to transform how we work as a council and with our wider partners. The key aim of the SIIP is to improve outcomes for our communities and to reduce health inequalities. The SIIP focus is on making better use of qualitative and quantitative data and evidence to inform and shape what we do as an organisation and to learn from implementation. There are 3 work programmes:

•  Community Research and Co-Production: Collaborate with VCS partners to develop a strong community researcher function, supported by London South Bank University. This work is jointly led by Community Engagement and Public Health.
•  Data Integration: Strengthen how we share and use data across the Council and with our NHS and VCS partners. This work is jointly led by Technology and Digital Services and the Digital Transformation Team and Public Health, building on the Modern Data Platform (MDP).
•  Learning & development: Providing learning and development opportunities through training and multi-disciplinary problem solving project groups. There will be opportunities for internal and external secondments. This work is jointly led by Learning and Development and Public Health.

We are recruiting to 2 roles:

•  The Programme Manager (Community Researcher)
•  The Programme Manager (Learning and Development)

Both roles provide research and development (R&D) advice and guidance relevant to the wider social determinants of health and health inequalities to the Council, higher education institutions (HEI), NHS and the community and voluntary sector (VCS) in Southwark.

About you:

Both roles will require the post-holder to use their R&D knowledge and competencies to shape and inform the development and delivery of R&D activities to implement the SIIP Delivery Plan, appropriate to learning and development and community research, making expert use of data intelligence, health evidence, evaluation methods and performance management approaches. The post holder will require excellent partnership and collaborative working skills.
