We support refugees and communities affected by conflict, displacement, neglect or discrimination in East Africa and the Horn of Africa.We manage scholarship programmes that give students from the communities we support the opportunity to study at universities and colleges in the UK and Africa. Our work not only helps to strengthen the quality of education in the communities where we operate, but also increases the capacity of teachers, schools and universities to deliver a high quality of education to their pupils.We are currently seeking a Programmes Assistant to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis, working 21 hours per week.The Benefits- Salary of GBP25,000 per annum, pro rata- Pension provision with a minimum of 5% employer contribution (increasing with service)- Flexible working arrangements- 26 days of annual leave (pro rata), in addition to public holidays- A commitment to ongoing training and development opportunitiesThis is an incredible opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with experience advising or mentoring individuals and experience in cross-cultural settings to join our impactful organisation.You'll have the chance to play a vital role in supporting educational programmes that empower refugees and communities in Africa whilst ensuring students receive the guidance and assistance they need to thrive in their educational journey.What's more, we're dedicated to your professional development and will provide plenty of opportunities to grow and advance your capabilities.So, if you're passionate about education, committed to supporting students and eager to make a difference, apply now and be part of a team dedicated to transforming lives through the power of education.The RoleAs a Programmes Assistant, you will provide comprehensive support to our educational programmes, particularly the Postgraduate Programme.Focusing on student welfare, recruitment and administrative assistance, you will assist students with applications for scholarships and co-ordinate their orientation and support when they arrive in the UK.You will also have the chance to support broader initiatives within our work in East Africa, ensuring the effective operation and development of programmes that support education in emergencies, scholarships, vocational training and more.Additionally, you will:- Manage communications with applicants and prospective applicants- Support the administration of financial aspects of student support- Organise and attend summer and winter values-based leadership conferences for students- Host online guidance workshops and update/improve current guidance materials- Manage databases related to programme participants and alumni- Update website content and manage social media platformsAs part of your role, it is expected that you will undertake travel to visit and support postgraduate students around the UK.
