The opportunity:

We are looking for experienced Project Accountant to join us at Leonardo. As a Project Accountant, you will manage and be responsible for the financial and project reporting requirements for a specific group of projects providing accurate, timely and relevant management information as well as providing advice and guidance to the project teams. You will be part of a business sector delivering solutions to a truly global marketplace. Finance play a key role in the service offering and this is a chance to make a difference as well as satisfy the statutory requirements.

What you’ll do as a Project Accountant

• Support the Financial Controller with preparation of sector monthly forecasts including assumptions, risks and opportunities and explanation of forecast movements.
• Support the business in producing robust monthly Contract Status Reports (CSRs) and quarterly Sales and Margin Trading Plans.
• Monitor financial performance through the Monthly Forecast and Business Planning processes.
• Work with the Project Team / budget holders to understand forecast, Business Plans and CSR movements.
• Support the business winning team in delivering optimal customer solutions.
• Reconcile financial data and resolving problems/issues where appropriate to ensure integrity of information provided.
• Ensure all financial procedures and controls are applied as required; and supporting non-finance functions on their application.
• Support the annual update of the Integrated Business Plan and phased budget.
• Proactively seeki to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the Finance function forward.

Support commercial review cost sheets for tender bibs – multi year projects, cost and payment scheduling, cash flow, IRR

Project reviews – monthly reviews of project status including financial update on project costs in total and Actuals vs To Go

Stock order reviews – long term forecasts of system sales from commercial drive stock planning – long lead time, allocation of stock to IBP (budget) sales forecast, actual cost analysis – over/under cost variance analysis

What we need from you:

• CIMA, ACA or ACCA - Qualified (will consider part qualified)
• IFRS 15 knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills
• Proactive in approach
• Ability to re-prioritise to meet key deadlines
• Focus on high quality output and support
• Advanced Excel and proficient in MS Office
• SAP experience advantageous but not essential
• You will be an enthusiastic individual, eager to do the job and excited about the projects/contracts you will be working with.

You must be able to travel to our Luton or Basildon office approximately 2-3 days a week.
