Role: Project Engineer
Location: Coulsdon, South London (hybrid)
Day Rate: Up to £450 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract Length: Initial 6-months contract
Are you an experienced Project Engineer who has the capability to take the reigns of a £55m rail telecoms project?
The Civils & Infrastructure division at Ford & Stanley are proud to be working with a well-established technology and civils-based rail company who are looking for a Project Engineer on a contract basis. This role is to assist in delivering a multimillion-pound (£55m) project partnering with Panasonic to roll out over 500 CCTV cameras across the Piccadilly line. These projects fall into the 'implementation phase' where ADC will be rolling out the structures that will house the CCTV's. This means a large amount of steel and concrete (civil based) will be utilised during critical timings to ensure minimal disturbance to the Piccadilly line.
This is an integral part of the Deep Tube Upgrade Programme which is a £1b project in itself. You will be joining the team during the implementation phase of this project, a very exciting time to be involved. You will directly have a hand in improving the safety for thousands of passengers/rail employees who use the very busy Piccadilly line within London on a daily basis.
Role & Responsibilities:
Reporting into the Head of Engineering, as Project Engineer you will be responsible for execution of assigned projects throughout all stages of the sales, solution realization and deployment process. Acts as interface between customer, sales, and engineering, mainly covering large delivery with multi disciplines.
- Completes internal design reviews for project documentation prior to release to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
- Prepares detailed design documentation for assigned projects including site surveys.
- Performs all elements of planning, installation, configuration, or integration service.
Coordinates with Project teams regarding product / sub-system testing and whole system integration testing, giving technical advice and solving integration issues. - Leads in-house and on-site testing (including sites of large-scale trials) of sub-system and whole system elements in coordination with Assurance Manager, Digital System Team, and Station Install Team
- Ensures testing is undertaken in-line with Project teams’ direction and complies with all relevant standards and legislation.
- Ensures testing is planned sufficiently that all tools / equipment etc are available and calibrated (as required) so that tests are undertaken in-line with the programme.
- Ensure testing reports are completed accurately and in sufficient detail and recorded correctly for use as onward evidence.
- Participates in collaboration with 3rd-party manufacturers or system integrators in-line with project requirements.
- Investigates new technologies regularly and reports to the company opportunities for adoption that offer efficiency, safety, quality and/or cost reduction opportunities.
- Provide ongoing proactive support in response to technical queries from across the company and clients.
Key Criteria:
Essential: Minimum of 3 years Project Engineering experience
Essential: Rail experience with exposure to TfL and LUL processes etc.
Essential: Able to commute to Coulsdon 3-days per week
Essential: Driven and hardworking, able to work under pressure and engage with stakeholders
Desirable: Telecoms experience
