Job description

This role has a starting salary of £34,356 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

This is a 6-month fixed term/secondment opportunity.

We are excited to be hiring a new Project Lead to join our fantastic Project Delivery Team. The role will focus on delivering MS Teams telephony to end users in conjunction with a third-party suppliers. The team is based in Woodhatch Place, Reigate.

About the Team

The Projects and Innovation team in the IT and Digital department plays a central role in delivering projects to enable our workforce to deliver new and improved services for our residents. We use agile and waterfall methods to deliver effective and high quality projects, with scalable and robust controls, that deliver business benefit.

About the Role

Working with the all staff within IT&D including PMO, project managers, resource managers and other stakeholders such as suppliers and service representatives, you will devise and agree projects briefs, PIDs and resource plans, and be responsible for the day to day management and ensure completion to agreed cost, time and quality criteria. This will often involve working with the management of a virtual project team.

Delivery activities will include stakeholder engagement, project management, project planning and governance, accurate and timely reporting, some business analysis and understanding of solutions implementation, IT infrastructure and upgrades as well as an appreciation of a Programme Office and resource management tools and processes.

The role is a key one to the organisation requiring the position holder to have the ability to work across all levels of the organisation to ensure smooth running and timely delivery of the small projects portfolio. Good planning and organisational skills as well as a proactive logical way of thinking are essential to this role. You must have a good awareness of PRINCE 2 and AGILE project management methodologies as well as an appreciation of IT projects delivery life cycle.

This role will require the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Must have previous experience as a Project Lead or Project Manager
  • Must have good experience in stakeholder management at all levels in an organisation
  • Ability to manage and work with 3rd party suppliers
  • Experience of or working in a PRINCE2 project environment
  • Ability to travel around Surrey as the successful candidate will need to visit a number of council offices.
